Principles of Bible Translation Part II (4 credit hours)

This course involves the many complexities of translating the Word of God into other languages and offers possible solutions to these difficulties. BBTI emphasizes the importance of using the King James Version and the Textus Receptus as the basis for translating the New Testament.

The student learns that one of the first and most important requirements of Bible translating is to become an accurate exegete of the meaning of the Biblical text. The textbook, Biblical Bible Translating, by Dr. Charles V. Turner, Ph.D., is used to teach this course. Translation principles are necessary not only for Bible translators but also for those who would preach and teach in a foreign language. Preaching and teaching are instantaneous translating. The BBTI student will be a better preacher and teacher in his new language and will be able to translate Scripture or other Christian literature when needed.
