Principles of Bible Translation Part I (3 credit hours)

Greek class The purpose of this study is two-fold. First, we want the missionary to learn enough New Testament Greek to read exegetical commentaries, which discuss the Greek text, and to understand what the authors are talking about when they use such terms as "Present Active Imperative Second Person Plural." This course will be a great help to him in his Bible translating. Secondly, the student gains hands-on experience in Bible translation as he learns to translate verses from Greek to English and from English to Greek. He experiences exactly what is involved in translating from one language to another. This study of New Testament Greek provides a good introduction to the next course, Bible Translation Principles.
